On Thursday, a tragic incident occurred in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, where a bus carrying pilgrims to the Vaishno Devi cave temple skidded off the Jammu-Pathankot highway, resulting in one fatality and 39 injuries, as reported by officials.
The accident took place in Jatwal when a tire of the bus, which was transporting pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh to Katra, burst, causing the vehicle to veer off the highway near a small bridge.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Iqbal Singh from Amroha.
Following the accident, a rescue operation was launched, and the injured were taken to a hospital in Samba. Subsequently, seven of the injured were transferred to the AIIMS hospital in Vijaypur for further treatment.
