Shreyas Iyer, who is known for his brilliant performance and captaincy in the IPL, has failed to make his place in the Asia Cup 2025 squad. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has said that there was no vacant space in the team, and the decision was not based on Shreyas’s performance or his mistake. Hearing this news, Shreyas Iyer’s father, Santosh Iyer, has been quite disappointed. He expressed disappointment, “I do not understand what else will have to do to make a place in the Indian T20 team. He is continuously performing well every year in the IPL, whether it is Delhi Capital, Kolkata Knight Riders or Punjab Kings. His record as captain has also been fantastic. In 2024 he made KKR a IPL champion and this year he did not lead Punjab Kings.” It is saying that he should be made the captain of the Indian team, but at least he should be included in the team. When he is excluded from the team, he does not show any resentment. The average is 30.66 and the strike rate was 136.12. He has scored a total of 1,104 runs. His last T20 match was played against Australia in Bangalore in December 2023, where he scored a half -century. He had left a Ranji match due to injury, after which his central contract was allegedly snatched away, as the BCCI felt that he had deliberately left the match. Former assistant coach Abhishek Nair has also questioned this selection, saying that it seems that Shreyas is no longer being thought of T20 cricket.
