Presenters Patrick Christys and his wife Emily Carver, who are known for their roles on GB News, have revealed the gender of their first child during a live broadcast.

On Thursday's instalment of the show, which recently saw Eamonn Holmes flooded with support, the 33-year-old presenter surprised his wife on set with flowers and a card from the team on her final day before maternity leave.

But the late-night anchor had another surprise in store. He brought out a white cake adorned with pink and blue icing, featuring the words 'Boy or Girl' on top.

The expectant mum then sliced into the elaborate cake to unveil the gender of their bundle of joy, who's expected to arrive within weeks, reports the Express.

The auburn-haired presenter, 29, beamed as she lifted out the cake slice, revealing blue sponge inside whilst the crew erupted in celebration behind them.

News correspondent Mark White could be heard calling out: "Not another young Patrick!" as colleagues laughed around them.

At that moment, Emily's afternoon co-presenter Tom Harwood presented the couple with a gift wrapped in pink tissue paper - a tiny knitted baby hat bearing the GB News logo above the words 'GB Baby'.

Before concluding her final programme, Emily admitted: "Thank you guys, I am going to miss you all."

Tom replied warmly: "We're going to miss you too, don't stay away for too long and I hope you're going to be coming back in whatever shape of form throughout the process."

It wasn't long before supporters rushed to the comments section to share their congratulations with the delighted couple following their wonderful announcement online.

One follower wrote: "Congratulations from America, Patrick. Best to your wife and son!!"

Another chimed in: "Congratulations Emily and Patrick! Wishing good health to both mum and baby."

Whilst a third added: "Congratulations Pat and your beautiful wife [heart emoji]."

This follows the expectant father seeking parenting wisdom from former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is father to eight children.

He laughed: "Do exactly what your wife tells you to do. That's my strong advice. There's no alternative. Do it instantly and try and anticipate.

"I don't think men ever really get quite how much of an effort motherhood really is. I mean, having been through it quite a few times. Not motherhood, obviously, but fatherhood. I think, don't underestimate, constantly think, 'How can I get points today?' That's my advice to you."
