Dream Sports, the company that owns Dream11, has stopped all paid games and switched to a free social gaming system. This announcement came on August 22, just one day after India’s President, Droupadi Murmu, approved the Online Gaming Bill passed in Parliament.

The new law, officially called The Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Law, 2025, bans online games where people put in money with the hope of winning cash. This law is likely to change how many gaming platforms in India do business.

This action follows reports that Dream Sports had already stopped all Pay to Play games on Dream Picks. Dream Picks is a new fantasy sports app where people could create four-player teams and compete during a cricket match. Dream Play, their simple real-money gaming app, has also stopped paid games and now only has a free version of online Ludo.

Dream Sports was created 18 years ago and has grown from a small sports-tech startup to a company that says it runs the biggest fantasy sports platform worldwide. In their statement, the company talked about its growth, saying that when they started Dream11, the Indian fantasy sports market was less than one percent of the size of the U.S. market.

The company said they will keep working toward their goal to Make Sports Better and support the government’s desire to make India a major sporting power. Dream Sports finished their announcement by saying this change is a new beginning for them: “See you in our second innings.

What Did Dream11 Say About Online Gaming Bill?

Dream Sports said: “This morning, we stopped all paid games on Dream11 and switched to a free online social game. When we started 18 years ago as a Sports Tech company, we were very small compared to the USA Fantasy Sports market. Dream11’s Fantasy Sports product was our way to “Make Sports Better for all of India. Because of this, we became the biggest fantasy sports platform in the world.

We have always followed the law and will keep doing so. We believe that better rules would have been good, but we will respect the law and fully comply with “The Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Law, 2025.

We are lucky to have several great Sports Tech businesses, like FanCode, DreamSetGo, and Dream Game Studios, along with our Dream Sports Foundation. These will continue to help us “Make Sports Better and support our Prime Minister’s goal of making India a global sporting power.
