Cheteshwar pujara retirement: Another wall of the Indian cricket team has collapsed- Test Specialist Ballibaz Cheteshwar Pujara has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. Pujara’s veteran batsmen have been there, who used to take one end on the field as a shield on the field under difficult conditions in Tests. However, Pujara did not get a chance to return to the team after defeat in the WTC 2023 final. BCCI and current head coach Gautam Gambhir have reacted to his retirement.
On Pujara’s retirement, coach Gambhir wrote on the social media platform X, ‘When the storm came, he stayed, when the expectations were fading, he struggled. Pujji, congratulations! The BCCI wrote on X, ‘One of the most courageous and best players ever representing Team India in Test cricket! Cheteshwar Pujara – Congratulations for a great Test career and best wishes for the journey ahead! ‘ The board has earlier shared a double century against Australia in Ranchi and 159 runs against New Zealand in 2012.
Pujara announced his retirement on social media
Cheteshwar Pujara wrote in the X post on Sunday, ‘Wearing the Indian jersey, singing the national anthem, and every time you step on the field – it is impossible to say in words. But as it is said, every good thing has to end, and with immense gratitude I have decided to retire from all formats of Indian cricket. Thank you for the love and support of all of you! ‘
Let us know that 37 -year -old Pujara played 103 Tests and 5 ODIs for India after his debut in 2010. He scored 7,195 Test runs, including 19 centuries and 35 half -centuries at an average of 43.60. For more than a decade, he was India’s most trusted number 3 batsman and played a key role in the team’s biggest Test victory on domestic and foreign land. His last Test match was the final of the World Test Championship against Australia at the Oval in June 2023.
