U Mumba's Training Camp and Ambitions

U Mumba is diligently preparing for the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season, having conducted a comprehensive 50-day training camp in Pune. The team, which clinched the PKL title in 2015, is eager to reclaim its former glory as they gear up for PKL 2025.

Last season, U Mumba reached the playoffs but fell short of advancing further, finishing fifth in the league standings. With nearly ten years since their last championship, the team is determined to become only the third franchise to secure multiple titles in the league's history.

Captain Sunil's Vision for Success

Captain Sunil Kumar expressed optimism about the upcoming season, emphasizing the importance of learning from past errors. During the unveiling of the team's new jerseys, he stated that adhering to their strategic plans will be crucial for avoiding previous mistakes.

“It has been a long gap of 10 years since we won the title. The mistakes we made in the Eliminator last season, we will look not to repeat them and lift the trophy,” Sunil remarked.

“We will make our strategies as per our opponents and ensure that the players stick with them. If that is done, I don’t think mistakes can be made,” he added.

Sunil also discussed the focus of their training camp, highlighting that the initial phase concentrated on fitness before transitioning to team dynamics.

“In the camp, we began working on our fitness and then moved to our combinations. When all players come together and play as a unit, the team gets success. We will also look to strike the right balance between our young players and those with experience,” he concluded.

The PKL 2025 season is set to commence on August 29, with U Mumba kicking off their campaign against the Gujarat Giants on August 30.
