The family of quarterback Avery Johnson has apologised for their role in a fight outside the stadium after the Kansas State Wildcats' tight loss to Iowa State in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Ireland.

The altercation started following Saturday's 24-21 loss for the Wildcats. With 21 of 30 passes completed for 273 yards and two touchdowns, including a rushing touchdown, Avery Johnson had an impressive performance.
However, as the game came to an end, tensions ran high, and Johnson's brother, Anthony, and father, Mark, got into a fight. Social media users have been sharing video footage of the altercation turning into a brawl with other supporters.
Apology Statement
In response to the incident, the Johnson family released a statement acknowledging their actions. They described the situation as a result of "senseless bickering" that escalated unexpectedly. "We sincerely apologise for our actions following yesterday's football game in Ireland," the statement read. "We have resolved our differences and take full responsibility for our actions. We extend our apologies to Kansas State University, its alumni, and fans. We regret this incident, have learned from it, and are committed to ensuring it doesn't happen again."
Following a turnover on downs early in the fourth quarter, which gave Iowa State the lead on the ensuing drive, the Wildcats struggled to recover during the game. Avery Johnson, who is in his third season as the Wildcats' quarterback and showed off his remarkable skills with 2,712 throwing yards and 25 touchdowns the previous season, found this setback to be difficult.
The Johnson family's public apology highlights accountability and respect for the Kansas State community while addressing the fallout from their conduct.
