Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the metro section between RV Road and Bommasandra earlier this month. After this, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) started working on extending the Pink Line, which will pass through Bengaluru’s busiest areas and major IT and tech parks.

This Pink Line, once finished, will be the longest metro route in the city, covering 68 kilometers. It will stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Kadugodi Tree Park, with around 50 stations along the route. It will help connect IT offices, factories, and homes across the city. A 21.3-km part of the route is currently being built.

Pink Line metro route

Most of the Pink Line is already built, with about 90% of the work done. Six stations that are above the ground are expected to be ready by next year. After the extension to Kadugodi Tree Park is complete, this metro line will officially become the city’s longest at 68 km.

The full route will begin at Kalena Agrahara (also called Gottigere) and end at Kadugodi Tree Park. It will go through important places like Jigani, Anekal, Attibele, Sarjapur, and Varthur.

When will Namma Metro Pink Line open?

Right now, construction is happening on a 21.3-km stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara. This part includes 7.5 km of raised tracks and 13.8 km of underground lines. The rest of the Pink Line will be built in the second phase of the project.

The BMRCL is planning to build around 50 metro stations along the Pink Line. Once the early technical checks (feasibility reports) are finished, a full project plan (Detailed Project Report or DPR) will be created. This report will need approval from both the state and central governments before moving forward.

Along with better metro travel, a new stadium with space for 90,000 people is being planned near Attibele. This project is being handled by the Karnataka Housing Board. The new metro line will make it easier for people to reach the stadium, especially during big events.

People living nearby are happy about the Pink Line project. They believe it will help reduce traffic, save travel time, and make it easier to get to work in tech parks and industrial areas.
