GATE 2026 Application Timeline



The application window for GATE 2026 is set to open on August 28, 2025. This is a change from the previously scheduled date of August 25, which has now been postponed. Candidates eager to apply should take note of the necessary documents required for the application process.


Essential Documents for GATE 2026

To successfully apply for GATE 2026, candidates must prepare the following documents:


1. A high-quality image of the candidate's photograph.


2. A clear image of the candidate's signature.


3. A scanned copy of a valid photo ID (the same ID must be presented in original form at the exam center).


4. A scanned PDF of the Category certificate (SC/ST) if applicable.


5. A scanned PDF of the UDID or Person with Disabilities certificate if applicable.


6. A scanned PDF of the Dyslexic certificate if applicable.


7. Any other relevant attachments in PDF format.


Eligibility Criteria

Candidates currently in their third year or higher of a degree program are eligible to apply for GATE 2026. Those who have completed degrees in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities from recognized institutions can also apply.


It is important for candidates to ensure that their qualifications are recognized by MoE, AICTE, UGC, or UPSC as equivalent to BE/BTech/BArch/BPlanning, etc. Additionally, candidates who have obtained or are pursuing these qualifications from institutions abroad are also eligible.


Application Deadlines

Interested candidates can submit their applications for GATE 2026 until September 28, 2025, without incurring a late fee. Applications will still be accepted with a late fee until October 9, 2025.


Result Announcement

As per the official website, the results for GATE 2026 are expected to be announced on March 19, 2026.
