Dr. V. N. Bedekar Institute of Management Studies (DR VN BRIMS) inaugurated the Foundation Program for its MMS Batch 2025–27 on Monday, marking the beginning of a transformative academic journey under the theme “Future Ready: Leading with Technology, Vision and Values.”
The program commenced at 9:30 a.m. with reporting, followed by the National Anthem and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony invoking Goddess Saraswati, creating a serene and inspiring start. Dr. Nitin Joshi, Director of DR VN BRIMS, addressed the new batch, reminding students that while theoretical knowledge builds the foundation, it is applicative knowledge that creates real-world impact. He urged them to treat their MMS journey as a leadership transformation—cultivating a professional outlook, staying ambitious, and positioning themselves as career seekers rather than job seekers. He emphasized the need to look beyond marks, shift mindsets, and focus on building skills and values that create meaningful careers.
Ashutosh Dumbre, Commissioner of Police, Thane graced the event as the Chief Guest. He drew upon the life and teachings of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to underline the values required for true success. He emphasized that discipline is the backbone of achievement, stepping out of the comfort zone builds resilience, and continuous competency development is essential in today’s competitive environment. He concluded by stressing that compassion remains the defining human quality, and leaders who embody it can inspire real change in society.
Dr. Guruprasad Murthy, Director General of DR VN BRIMS, delivered a motivating address, highlighting “enthusiasm, energy, and enterprise” as the three cornerstones of leadership. He encouraged students to channel their enthusiasm into learning, their energy into productive action, and their enterprise into innovation—qualities that, when combined, transform challenges into opportunities and aspirations into achievements.
Adding to the inspiration, Dr. Vijay Bedekar, Chairman of Vidya Prasarak Mandal (VPM), shared his vision for future leaders, stressing the importance of punctuality and using time effectively to explore one’s potential and contribute to society. He emphasized that true success lies in prioritizing quality over quantity, fostering creativity, and enhancing personal capabilities. He encouraged students to continuously refine their approach to learning and leadership, while uncovering the vast potential that lies within themselves.
The session was further enriched by Guest of Honour, Dr. Satish Modh, Pro-Vice Chancellor at the Somaiya University, who conducted interactive activities to engage students in self-reflection and mindful learning. Through these, he highlighted the “freedom of possibilities,” urging students to live in the present with awareness and embrace mindfulness in everything they do. He inspired the batch to value each moment as an opportunity for growth and to carry this philosophy into their MMS journey and beyond.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Pallavi Chandwaskar, MMS Program Coordinator, who acknowledged the contributions of the distinguished dignitaries and faculty and encouraged students to approach their MMS journey with commitment, enthusiasm, and a growth mindset.
The Foundation Program successfully set a vibrant and inspiring tone for the MMS Batch 2025–27, providing students with exposure to thought leadership, institutional values, and a clear roadmap for academic and professional success.
