A new ‘Knight Rider’ film might have just been confirmed, with the production team already being set in place. The big-budget project is in talks with the team of directors and screenwriters responsible for the hit OTT project, ‘ Cobra Kai ’.
‘Knight Rider’ to revive on the big screen in new film project Jon Hurwitz , Hayden Schlossberg , and Josh Heald , the main creators of the OTT show ‘Kobra Kai,’ are seemingly in talks of bringing back ‘Knight Rider’ to the big screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The direction and scriptwriting will be handed over to them. Initially, the project’s scripting had been handled by famed writers Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider.
More about the original ‘Knight Rider’The original project was led by none other than David Hasselhoff . It focused on the concept of a computerized and talking car. The series aired from 1982 to 1986 with a total of four seasons. At the time, it became a major hit amongst the audience.
The show sees the pairing of Michael Knight, a detective from the Foundation for Law and Government, also known as FLAG. KITT, a computerized and indestructible Trans Am fed in with a conscience using AI, joins the journey as Knight’s partner in solving crimes. The show boasted a cast that included David Hasselhoff, Edward Mulhare, Richard Basehart , Patricia McPherson , Rebecca Holden, Peter Parros, and many others.
The team of ‘Kobra Kai’ has managed to set the bar high with their latest OTT release and spin-off of the classic ‘Karate Kid’ franchise. The show focuses on the story of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, and how Johnny opens up his Kobra Kai dojo seeking redemption and revenge after the events of ‘Karate Kid’. The series has been a hit as soon as it was released, and the third season of the show even ended up scoring an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series.
