New Delhi: Reports of a supposed clash between Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds on the sets of Avengers: Doomsday sent shockwaves across the Marvel fandom last week. Claims suggested that a joke gone too far sparked tension between the two Hollywood heavyweights. However, insiders have now stepped in to clarify that there is no truth behind the chatter.

Speculation grew after podcasts and niche outlets hinted at a behind-the-scenes altercation, prompting fans to point fingers at Robert, 60, and Ryan, 48. The buzz quickly went viral, with many convinced that the two Marvel favourites had butted heads while filming the upcoming ensemble blockbuster.

All is well between Robert Downy Jr. and Ryan Reynolds?

Yet, industry sources have strongly dismissed the claims. According to People magazine, there is “zero bad blood” between the actors. A separate report by TMZ added an unexpected twist: the two stars have never actually met in person.

“The two are friendly and they even kicked around the idea of an RDJ cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine,” a source told TMZ. “During the pandemic, they also Zoomed for a celebrity fantasy football league to raise money for their chosen charities.” The insider further noted that Reynolds has “nothing but respect and adulation” for Robert.

Interestingly, Ryan has not even been confirmed to reprise his role as Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday. Much of the speculation about the film’s sprawling cast remains unverified. Robert, however, is confirmed to be returning in a new avatar, stepping into the shoes of Doctor Doom instead of his iconic Iron Man.

The rumours gained traction after journalist Jeff Sneider discussed apparent on-set “dysfunction” during an episode of The Hot Mic. He remarked that egos and testosterone were high on the production, but acknowledged that reports may have exaggerated the situation.
