Barclays is offering a £175 bonus payment from Barclays but customers have just hours left to claim the extra cash. You can get the extra cash when switching to one of two accounts with Barclays. You need to start your switch today (August 28) to be eligible for the payment.
The offer is available only to new customers who switch to either a Barclays Bank Account or a Premier Current Account. To be eligible for the cash, you need to open up either bank account through the Barclays app, in a sole name.
Customers going for the Barclays Bank Account are also required to join Blue Rewards, which costs £5 a month. The rules state you must carry out a full switch in the app using the Current Account Switch Service, and you will need to bring over at least two direct debits. You will also need to pay in £1,500 into the new account.
What do I need to do by the August 28 deadline to get the Barclays £175 switch offer?There are several steps you need to complete today (August 28) to qualify for the payment. Firstly, you will need to open one of the qualifying current accounts.
Then you will need to open up the Barclays app, select 'Products' on the home page, and then scroll down to 'Our services' and choose 'Switch current account'.
There will be on-screen instructions for how to complete a full switch. You will need to provide details of your old debit card to do this.
Once you have started the switch, you need to complete it within 30 days of opening the account to be eligible for the extra cash. You also must pay in at least £1,500 into your new account within this same 30-day window.
Who will not qualify for the Barclays £175 switch offer?The current account has to be opened in a sole name so anyone who opens a joint account will not qualify. You also won't be able to get the cash if you opened a Barclays current account before the offer launched, on July 15.
Another group who will not qualify is anyone who is only eligible for a Barclays Basic Current Account. Anyone aged under 18 or who is not a UK resident will also not qualify.
Barclays will issue the payment into your new account within 28 working days of meeting the qualifying rules. You will be able to see the amount on your statement, as it will come with the words 'Switch Reward'.
