GATE 2026 Registration Begins



The registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 commenced today, August 28. Interested candidates can apply online by visiting the official website at gate2026.iitg.ac.in. The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, will oversee the GATE 2026 examination. A direct application link is available for convenience.


Purpose of GATE Exam

This examination is held annually to facilitate admissions into postgraduate and direct doctoral programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at esteemed institutions such as IITs, NITs, and IIITs. It is a national-level exam, and the GATE score is also recognized for recruitment in various public sector undertakings (PSUs), allowing successful candidates to secure direct employment.


Registration Deadline and Fees

Candidates can register without incurring a late fee until September 26.


GATE 2026 Application Fee:


The registration fee is set at Rs 1000 for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/Divyang categories, while all other applicants must pay Rs 2000. Payments can be made online. For further details, please refer to the official notification.

Exam Schedule

GATE 2026 Exam Dates:


The examination will take place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, across various centers nationwide. Each day will feature two shifts: the first from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and the second from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The exam will cover a total of 30 subjects, including engineering, technology, science, and architecture, allowing candidates to take the test in their selected discipline.
