People who get treatment through health insurance at Max Hospital have received a big shock. Niva Bupa, Star Health, and Care Health Insurance have stopped the cashless facility at Max Hospital across India. These companies have said that a cashless medical treatment facility will not be provided in any branch of Max Hospital across the country. Earlier, the hospital had announced that it would stop the cashless facility of Bajaj Allianz.

The companies have said that if treatment has to be done in this hospital, then the insurance holder customers can take the reimbursement facility. The office claims team will reimburse the hospitalization (refund the expenses). The insurance companies have said that the documents required for reimbursement include discharge summary, all reports, all prescriptions and doctor notes, all bills, Aadhar card, PAN card, and cheque.

The hospital stopped the cashless service of these companies.

Two days ago, the hospital organization AHPI had instructed all member hospitals to stop the cashless treatment facility of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance from September 1. This includes more than 20,000 hospitals, including Max Super Specialty and Fortis Escorts. A similar notice was also sent to CARE Health Insurance. AHPI has sought a response from Care Health by August 31. If no response is received, the cashless facility will be discontinued for Care policyholders as well. If this is implemented, patients holding Bajaj Allianz or CARE insurance policies will have to pay the hospital expenses from their own pockets first, and the insurance company will reimburse them later.

What was the matter?

AHPI Director General Dr. Girdhar Gyani had said that medical expenses in India are increasing at the rate of 7-8% every year. This includes staff salaries, medicines, medical equipment, electricity, water, and other expenses. Hospitals try their best to reduce expenses, but it is not possible to provide treatment at the old rate. If this continues, patient care will be affected, which AHPI and its member hospitals cannot accept. According to AHPI, Bajaj Allianz has been rejecting the demand to change the treatment rates every two years for a long time and instead talks about reducing the rates. Also, the hospitals allege that Bajaj Allianz delays claim settlement, and patients also get discharge approval late.
