Eknath shinde meets harbhajan singh: Former veteran spinner of the Indian cricket team and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh met Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at his Thane residence on Friday. The meeting took place on the occasion of the ‘Krida Sangram’ tournament, in which Harbhajan Singh arrived in Thane to join as a guest.
During the meeting, there was a thorough discussion between Harbhajan Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Shinde to provide better facilities and training to young players in the state. Harbhajan emphasized that players in the district should be trained under the guidance of the best instructors so that they can demonstrate their talent at the national and international level.
As an MP, Harbhajan Singh has been advocating the development of sports in his home state of Punjab as well as the whole country. He encourages not only cricket, but also players of other sports to move forward in their field. This meeting is considered part of this comprehensive approach. Maharashtra is considered a stronghold of cricket in India, where three strong teams from Mumbai, Vidarbha and Maharashtra are active in domestic cricket. In such a situation, increasing sports facilities in a city like Thane will increase healthy competition among young talents.
Harbhajan Singh is one of the most successful bowlers in Indian cricket history. The 45 -year -old player played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20 matches for India between 1998 and 2016. He has 417 wickets in Test cricket, 269 in ODIs and 25 wickets in T20. Apart from bowling, he was also an aggressive batsman of the lower order.
In Test cricket, he scored 2,225 runs with the help of two brilliant centuries and 9 half -centuries. At the same time, he has 1,237 runs in ODIs. Harbhajan’s biggest achievement is to become the first Indian bowler to take a hat -trick in Test cricket, which he achieved against Australia in 2001.
He was a part of the golden phase of Indian cricket, when India won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. Harbhajan was an important member of both World Cup winning teams. Even after retirement, Harbhajan Singh is active in both politics and cricket. He is playing his role as a Rajya Sabha MP and is also seen as a commentator in major cricket competitions and IPL.
