Up electricity bill hike: The month of September has brought new concern for the electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh. This time consumers will have to face additional burden in electricity bills. By adding fuel surcharge fee for the month of June, the September bill will be recovered up to 2.34 per cent in the September bill. On the other hand, to improve the power supply, the government has approved new schemes on a large scale, which is expected to provide relief to consumers in the coming time.
The fuel surcharge fee (0.24%) of May was included in August bills. Now 2.34% of the month of June will be charged in September. It is estimated that there will be an additional recovery of about Rs 184.41 crore from consumers.
Awadhesh Kumar Verma, president of the Electricity Consumer Council, has opposed this increase. He says that consumers have a surplus of Rs 33,122 crore on the corporations. If this amount is adjusted as fuel surcharge fee, then consumers will not have to bear additional burden.
A plan of Rs 85 crore has been approved to strengthen the power system in Jankipuram zone of Lucknow. About 2.95 lakh consumers will get better power supply from this project.
Under the scheme, large transformers with 5-5 MVA capacity will be installed at nine sub-centers. This will reduce the problem of overloading and the power supply will be smooth.
A total of 32 new transformers will be installed in Jankipuram zone. These will include transformers with 250 and 400 KVA capacity.
According to media reports, Dr. Ashish Kumar Goel, President of Power Corporation, said that this budget will increase the capacity of sub -centers and provide relief to consumers. At the same time, Chief Engineer of Lesa VP Singh said that after the commencement of work from December, consumers will get a lot of relief from the power crisis.
