New Delhi: The Audi A7 and S7 are going extinct in America as the German carmakers reorganise their lineup. The models are not coming to America for 2026 as they prepare for the model’s indirect successor. Audi’s spokesperson confirmed to Road and Track that the brand won’t be offering the two models as they shift focus to the upcoming A6 TFSI coming soon this year.

Audi’s initial plan was to name their model based on the powertrain, giving odd numbers for ICE-powered cars, while the electric vehicles would get the even numbers. The ICE A6 was supposed to be launched as the next generation of the A7, but the brand decided against it as customers found it confusing. Instead, they are now calling it the A6 TSI, which will be joining the A6 E-Tron lineup launched earlier. 

Audi A7 history: A game-changing styling

The Audi A7 had made its debut in 2010 as a fastback version of the A6, the automaker‘s rival for the Mercedes-Benz CLS, which had been introduced a few years before. The four-door coupe and sloping roof were definitely a first back in the day and paved the way for a trend. 

The hotter S7 came in 2012 with high-performance RS7 making its debut in 2013 at the Detroit Auto Show. It came with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine that produced 552 bhp. Audi is planning to continue the RS7 in America until 2025. The 4.0-litre V8 now makes 621 bhp and 850 Nm of torque, coming with Audi’s eight-speed Tiptronic transmission and Quattro AWD. It can go from 0-100 kph in 3.3 seconds, and Audi will try to give it a proper successor with the A6. 

There’s an S6, but it is an electric that comes with 543 bhp and can go 0-100 kph in 3.7 seconds. Audi’s performance as a brand globally has seen a decline in sales.
