Ration card e kyc up: There is less time left for crores of ration card holders of Uttar Pradesh. The Food and Logistics Department has issued strict orders saying that all card holders will have to conduct e-KYC (biometric verification) by August 31. Whatever families will not complete KYC till this date, they will not get the benefit of free ration for three months from September 1.

Why is e-KYC important?

Aadhaar linking and biometric verification have been made mandatory for bringing transparency in ration distribution and removing ineligible beneficiaries. The government believes that this process will enable ration to the eligible families properly.

Where and how to get e-KYC

The card holders who have not yet completed this process can go to the nearest fair rate and get KYC through e-pass machine. This process is extremely simple and is completed only by base -based biometric verification.

Who got rebate?

  • Children under 5 years of age - they are currently exempted from e -KYC.
  • The elderly, disabled and seriously ill people - whose base verification is not being done for some reason, can contact the Regional Food Officer and make alternative arrangements by giving necessary evidence.

What are the types of ration cards in UP?

Two types of ration card holders benefit under the National Food Security Act-2013 in Uttar Pradesh:

  • Antyodaya card holder
  • Eligible household card holder

In 2021, new ration cards were issued under the mandate. Along with this, the facility of unit amendment and unit transfer was also provided.

How to get the names added to the ration card?

The Food and Logistics Department has made it clear that new ration card holders or families whose units are recently connected, it is mandatory to get e-KYC before getting ration.

  • Married women, whose names have not yet been included in the in -laws' ration card, can apply online through the departmental portal.
  • The process of unit transfer and new names is also available online.

Beneficiaries can contact departmental portal or nearest fair rate shop for more information. The department has clarified that those who do not do e-KYC on time will have to be deprived of ration distribution for 3 months.
