Can someone's life change only with financial help? The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is answering this question from its work. In just 10 months, the government has identified more than 13 lakh 32 thousand poor families under the zero power. Out of these, 3 lakh 72 thousand families have already benefited from government schemes. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claims that this campaign is not just relief, but an initiative to change life permanently.

How did Zero Poverty campaign start?

On 15 August 2024, on the occasion of Independence Day, CM Yogi announced the Zero Poverty campaign. It was then formally launched on 2 October. The government aims to identify 25 poor families from every gram panchayat and they should be linked to basic facilities like employment, livelihood, housing, health and education.

Where did the most identified poor families?

According to government data, 13,32,634 families have been identified in the state by August 2025. Most of these families have been identified in Azamgarh (42,082), Jaunpur (39,374), Sitapur (36,571), Hardoi (30,050) and Prayagraj (28,935). The special campaigns conducted in these districts and the participation of panchayats and voluntary organizations are benefiting more and more families.

CM Yogi's goal: UP poverty free till 2027

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has told many forums that not only to reduce poverty, but to end it is his goal. According to him, Uttar Pradesh will be made a poverty-free state by 2027. The Zero Poverty campaign is a decisive step in this direction.

Example of data-based tracking and transparency

The government has linked the identified families with schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Employment Guarantee and Education. Also, priority is being given to data-based monitoring and transparency at the ground level. Especially by connecting women with self -help groups, emphasis is being laid on economic empowerment.
