Educate girls ngo:‘Educate Girls’ iconic of 2025The Ramon Magsaysay Award has been awarded. This is the first time an Indian organization has received this international honor. So far, this award has been received by many people of India, but this achievement has been achieved for the first time to an institution.

The Ramon Magsaysay Award, called the ‘Nobel Prize’ of Asia, is given to individuals and organizations who have introduced courage and selfless service to the society. This year this honor is Shahina Ali of Maldives and Flaviano Antonio L. of the Philippines. Will also be given to Vilanuva.

Mission to break cultural restrictions

The Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF) said that educational girls have been given this honor because they have challenged socio-cultural stereotypes through the education of girls and women and empowering them from illiteracy. This effort of the institution gives girls an opportunity to move forward with courage, skill and self -reliance.

The journey started with the initiative of Safina Hussain

Educate Girls was founded in 2007 by Safina Hussain. Hussain, studying from London School of Economics, returned to India from San Francisco and started work on girls’ education in rural India. Started from Rajasthan, where the institution focused on communities where girls were away from school. The institution not only brought him into class but also made a way to complete his studies and bring them to higher education and employment opportunities.

Development Impact Bond for the first time in education

In 2015, Educate Girls launched the world’s first development impact bond (DIB) in the education sector. This model linked the financial help directly to the results. These initiatives started from 50 villages and reached more than 30,000 villages and so far more than 20 lakh girls have benefited from it. The institution claims that its retention rate has been more than 90%.

New direction from ‘Pragati’ program

The institution also started the ‘Pragati’ program, under which the women of 15–29 years got an opportunity to complete their studies through open schooling. Initially, only 300 students were added to it, but today this number has increased to more than 31,500. The 67th ceremony of the Ramon Magasaysay Award will be held on 7 November 2025 at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila. During this time, the winners will be provided with a medal, a citation and cash amount with the statue of President Ramon Magsaysay.
