Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Pratibha Setu Portal in his 125th Mann Ki Baat program. Describing it as a bridge of talent, he said that this portal is a new ray of hope for thousands of candidates who have passed all the steps of the difficult UPSC exam correctly, but their names could not appear on the last merit list.
What did PM Modi say?
UPSC is one of the toughest exams in the country. Many times, people are not able to make it to the final list by just a small margin. Such candidates have to prepare again. This leads to a waste of time and money. But now digital platforms like Pratibha Setu will maintain both opportunity and dignity for these promising students.
What is Pratibha Setu Portal
Pratibha Setu Portal is a special initiative of UPSC, which aims to provide new opportunities to those children who could not get selected despite passing all the steps. Earlier, it was known as the Public Disclosure Scheme (2018). Now it has been strengthened further with the new name Pratibha Setu. Data of more than 10,000 candidates is available on this portal.
These include these exams.
Civil Services Examination (CSE), Indian Forest Service (IFoS), Engineering Services (IES), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Indian Economic Service / Indian Statistical Service (IES / ISS), Combined Medical Services, Combined Defense Services (CDS), and Combined Geo-Scientist Exam.
How does the Pratibha Setu Portal work?
Government and private companies can register on this portal. After verification, they are given a login ID. They can see the educational qualification, exam details, and basic contact information of the candidates. With this, companies can directly give jobs to these candidates. The data is made available through a completely safe and transparent system.
Why is this portal special?
Pratibha Setu ensures that opportunities are also provided to those candidates who work hard and pass all the steps but are unable to make it to the finals. This portal is proving to be beneficial for the government, the private sector, and candidates.
