Every day, crores of people travel by train in the country. The biggest problem of those traveling by train is waiting ticket. Many times, even after booking the ticket, confirmation is not received and the planning goes awry. In such a situation, people do not understand what to do at the last moment.

This problem is seen more during the festival or holiday season. People complete the preparations for the journey but there is always tension due to having a waiting ticket in hand. The result is that many times passengers have to cancel the journey.

Now the question arises whether those with waiting tickets really have a panacea. Railways also has some such facilities. Through which passengers can get a confirmed seat. In this, two options are most useful. Tatkal booking and Vikalp scheme.

Tatkal ticket is helpful for those passengers who have to travel immediately. This facility opens a day before the date of travel and booking is done on limited seats. Many times, when the normal ticket is not confirmed, the passengers travel by taking Tatkal ticket.

Vikalp scheme is a facility of railways in which confirmed seat is allotted to those with waiting tickets in another train. That is, if the ticket is not confirmed in your booked train, then the railway can get you a seat in another train.

Tatkal ticket is available directly from booking, whereas in Vikalp scheme, the passenger has to join it at the time of booking itself. After this, if the ticket is not confirmed, then the system itself allots a seat in another train. No extra charge has to be paid for this.

Both these options provide great relief to the passengers. In the busy season like Diwali and Chhath journey, Tatkal and Vikalp scheme can prove to be helpful in getting confirmed tickets to the passengers. However, there is no 100 percent guarantee. But the chances are high.
