If you have an account with Punjab National Bank (PNB), there’s an important new rule you need to be aware of this September. PNB has been urging all its customers to complete one crucial task to ensure their accounts remain fully operational: linking their Aadhaar number to their bank accounts.

What is the New Rule and What’s the Deadline?

Essentially, PNB is requiring all its customers to link their Aadhaar number to their respective bank accounts. The deadline to get this done is September 30, 2025.

This isn’t just a PNB rule; it’s part of a wider directive from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to enhance the security of the banking system and streamline the process for receiving government benefits.

What Happens if You Don’t Link Your Aadhaar?

This is the important part. According to PNB, accounts that are not linked with an Aadhaar number by the deadline may become inactive or face operational restrictions starting from October 1, 2025.

This means you might face issues with your daily banking activities. While your money will be safe, you may have trouble with transactions like:

  • Depositing or withdrawing money.
  • Transferring funds.
  • Receiving any government subsidies, scholarships, or benefits (like pension or LPG subsidy), as these are directly credited via Aadhaar.

How to Easily Link Your Aadhaar to Your PNB Account

Thankfully, PNB has made the process very simple. You can do it in several ways:

  1. Visit Your PNB Branch: This is the most straightforward method. Just go to your home branch with a copy of your Aadhaar card and your bank passbook. Fill out the simple linking form, and a bank official will process it for you.
  2. Use PNB Net Banking: If you use internet banking, you can do it from home. Log in to your account, look for an option like “Aadhaar Seeding” or “Link Aadhaar” (usually found in the services menu), enter your Aadhaar number, and authorize the request.
  3. Use the PNB One App: The process is similar on the mobile app. Log into the PNB One app, navigate to the services section, find the Aadhaar linking option, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. At a PNB ATM: You can also link your Aadhaar at a PNB ATM. Swipe your debit card, enter your PIN, and look for an “Aadhaar Registration” or similar option on the screen.

It’s a simple step that will only take a few minutes, but it’s crucial for keeping your PNB account running smoothly. So, don’t wait until the last minute—get it done before September 30th.
