With much speculation going around the future of Thor, Chris Hemsworthwho has been playing the God of Thunder since 2011, has provided an update regarding his character’s fate post Avengers: Doomsday.
In a recent interview, the actor shared his thoughts about whether Thor will survive the events of the upcoming Avengers sequel, also giving insight into the possibilities of Thor 5 in the process.
While speaking with the BBCChris Hemsworth remarked that he is uncertain about where Thor will end up after Avengers 5. The veteran actor also divulged that Marvel Studios is still figuring out a place for the son of Odin in the MCU, making Thor 5 a mere possibility at the moment.
“I don’t know. We’ll see where this one goes,” Hemsworth said of Thor’s future in Marvel after Doomsday. He then added, “We are unpacking that as we speak, and figuring out where each of these characters goes. I’m just thankful for being involved with this one at Marvel, back together with a lot of the old cast, and then the new cast. It’s something I certainly love. We’ll see what happens.”
Hemsworth’s comments regarding his character’s MCU future and Thor 5 come amid rumor that have predicted a sacrificial death for the hammer-wielding superhero. Although Kevin Feige has hinted that it would be “fun to see” actors such as Hemsworth reprise their roles for multiple projects, he has not shared any official word on the character’s future as of now (via Deadline).
Notably, Hemsworth’s Thor is the only member from the original Avengers roster to officially make it into the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, with Marvel Studios yet to share a word on potential appearances from Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye.
The much-awaited Avengers 5 is currently on track to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
