Balrampur A large part of the Lutti reservoir broke in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday night. Two houses were swept away in this horrific accident and seven people were swept away in water. The administration and villagers jointly carried out relief and rescue operations at the scene. This incident has created an outcry in the entire district. Was heavy rains and the old seepage negligence of the reservoir due to this tragedy?
Lutti reservoir located in village Dhaneshpur of village Vishramnagar in Balrampur district was built in 1980-81. This reservoir is located in an area surrounded by two mountains, in which water comes from one side through the drain. In the last 10-12 years, seepage was seen and repaired in the reservoir. On Tuesday night, due to continuous rains and lack of reservoir monitoring, its lower part was damaged and the water started flowing below the entire velocity. Water came to Ramvriksha's house at the time of breakdown of the reservoir. Ramvriksha was out of the house, but his wife, two daughters-in-law and three grandchildren were swept away in the water. This incident proved to be a change in the whole life of a family.

The corpse of four people has been recovered in this accident so far, while two children and one villagers are still missing. The administration has intensified the search operation and the villagers themselves are busy in relief work. Flood water is flowing in the nearest Kanhar river, due to which the chances of getting missing people are less visible.
Balrampur Collector Rajendra Katara and Superintendent of Police Vaibhav reached the banker on the spot. The administration deployed the entire team for relief work. Villagers from nearby villages also gathered for help and started searching for missing people. The administration issued a warning that the flood water in the Kanhar river was flowing rapidly and advised the villagers to go to safe places.
This incident has also raised the question whether negligence in repairing and monitoring old reservoirs can lead to future and major accidents? Increased increasing rains and limited ability of reservoirs can make natural disasters more disastrous.
