Autumn truly is the perfect time for wholesome TV shows, and last night’s return of The Great British Bake Off officially marks the start of cosy nights in. Alison Hammond was back presenting alongside Noel Fielding, and she got the series off with a bang in her stunning denim midi dress.

Although we tried our hardest to track down the exact dress she was wearing, it turns out her Monsoon Kaia Cornelli Dress is completely sold out everywhere except Debenhams, which currently only has a size 20 in stock. However, we did track down a great alternative with Authentic Indigo Zip Detail Tiered Midi Denim Dress, hailing from a brand Alison has worn previously; Scamp & Dude.

Just like her Bake Off dress, the Scamp & Dude denim midi has a fitted bodice with a flared, A-line midi skirt and zip up fastening up the front. The alternative does, however, have a tiered midi skirt which adds a little extra volume and playfulness, to make up for the lack of white filigree embroidery on the front which made Alison’s Monsoon dress stand out.

However, the Tiered Midi Denim Dress is still a great choice as we transition from summer into autumn, managing to straddle both seasons effortlessly. The loose fitting skirt and short sleeves mean you could still wear it during the last of the warm sunny days, whilst the 100% cotton material and longer length means it’ll keep you covered up when it gets chilly.

You can also effortlessly style it with anything from sandals and a tote bag to biker boots and a long coat, making it a great transitional piece to wear through every season. The dress is priced at £135, and comes in sizes six to 22, although currently sizes 16 and 22 are sold out.

If you’re missing the white filigree on Alison’s dress, Monsoon also offers a slightly different style with the East Floral Embroidered Denim Midi Dress Blue, priced at £129, featuring a similar embroidered pattern on the chest. This dress, however, has a more relaxed flowy style with long sleeves that’s just as ideal for wearing during the autumn.

The Scamp & Dude Tiered Midi Denim Dress however has gotten excellent reviews from happy shoppers, with one saying: “Great dress, really versatile and very flattering.”

Another agreed: “Such a beautiful dress, lovely quality and it feels really good on. I feel great with it on and it’s versatile with trainers for a laidback look to ballet flats and boots, it all works!”

In fact amongst all the positive reviews, the only negatives people had to comment were that the sizing was a little off. One wrote: “I wore this dress to an open air gig and had 2 people tell me how great I looked in it. It's a bit on the long side for me.”

Whilst another said: “I took the advice of other reviewers and sized up with this one. Lovely dress and I think I will get a lot of wear out of it- I just wish it was true to size!”

Others however couldn’t stop praising the Tiered Midi Denim Dress, writing: “Very flattering & excellent ‘anytime’ dress. Good quality too.”

Another said: “Great dress. Worn with sandals in the summer and a cardigan, tights and DM’s in the winter. Snug across the bust and so I sized up x 1.”
