The Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar had shooed away retirement plans, confirming that he has no such plans in the coming days. He clarified that he controlling the controllables and leaving the rest for the selectors.

 

Once hailed for his ability to swing the ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has not been in either of the formats since 2022. He last featured for the Indian team in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal where he was smacked for 25 runs in two overs. Despite the setbacks, Bhuvi has been a constant in the Indian Premier League and has played a crucial role in helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru win their maiden title in 2025, picking 17 wickets in 14 matches.

 

Meanwhile, a lot of cricketers from his batch have put their shoes down. In such a condition, when Bhuvneshwar was asked about his retirement plans, he said that he is happy with his bowling, leaving the rest to the selectors. Speaking to the media, Bhuvi said,

 

“I am enjoying my bowling. I haven’t thought about retirement yet. As long as I am fit, I will keep playing. The rest is the job of the selectors."

He added,

 

“The selectors will answer this question. My job is to give 100 percent on the field. After the UP League, if I get a chance in Mushtaq Ali, Ranji or one-day format for UP, I will give my best there too. As a disciplined bowler, my focus is always on fitness and line-length. No matter how well you perform, sometimes luck does not favour you."

 

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was picked by RCB for ₹10.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Though his international future is unclear, he aims to play as long as fitness permits. Currently featuring for Meerut Mavericks in the UPPL, he has claimed nine wickets in eight matches with a 6.76 economy rate.
