Newcastle United's squad for the 2025/26 Champions League season has been confirmed by UEFA, with the Magpies having until yesterday to submit their 'List A' of up to 25 players. At least eight of these spots must be filled by 'locally trained players'. A secondary 'List B' of players can be submitted a day before any matchday, typically reserved for players under 21. Lewis Hall and Lewis Miley fall into this category, hence they are not included in the A list.

However, two senior players have been left out of the Champions League squad: third-choice goalkeeper John Ruddy and centre-back Jamaal Lascelles, who captained the team in the previous Champions League campaign. Due to the absence of 'club-trained' players on their A list, Newcastle could only name 21 instead of 25 players on the list submitted to UEFA, leading to the decisions regarding Ruddy and Lascelles.

New signings Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa have both been included as they aim to make their mark on the European stage.

Newcastle will kick off their Champions League campaign later this month when they host Barcelona at St James' Park (September 18, 8pm). They then face Union Saint-Gilloise (A), Benfica (H), Athletic Club (H), Marseille (A), Bayer Leverkusen (A), PSV (H) and PSG (A).
