Kalyani Priyadarshan ’s superhero film ‘ Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra ’, directed by Dominic Arun, is continuing its strong run at the box office. The film, which released on 28 August 2025, has already created a storm in theatres and is now racing through its second week with impressive numbers.
‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ started strong at the box officeFrom the very first day, the film showed signs of becoming a hit. Audiences were curious to see India’s first female superhero story on the big screen, and the buzz paid off. After completing eight days, the film entered its second week with total collections crossing Rs 60 crore in India, while the worldwide figure stood at Rs 123.50 crore, according to Sacnilk.







‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ day 9As per early estimates by Sacnilk, ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ collected around Rs 7.75 crore India net on day 9 across all languages. The films India collection now stands at Rs 62.45 crore. On Friday, 5 September 2025, the film’s occupancy was particularly strong in Malayalam, recording 71.67%. The Telugu version also saw decent numbers, with 39.88% occupancy.

Bollywood celebrities share love for the filmThe film has not only won over the audience but also received big appreciation from Bollywood stars. Priyanka Chopra shared her excitement for the film on social media, posting the poster and writing, “India’s first female superhero is here. Congratulations Dulquer Salmaan and the entire team of Lokah. This story has already been winning hearts in Malayalam, and now, it’s out in Hindi too. PS: added it to my watchlist already! Have you?”







Alia Bhatt too praised the film, saying, “Such a fresh blend of mythic folklore and mystery! So happy to see the love it’s getting. This is a big step in cinema that I will always be eager to show my love and support for.”

What is the storyline of ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’At the heart of ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ is the character of Chandra, played by Kalyani Priyadarshan. She is a yakshi (vampire) summoned by Moothon, the leader of a superhero group voiced by Mammootty.
Chandra’s journey takes her from Sweden to Bengaluru, where her arrival changes everything. Her neighbour Sunny, played by Naslen, instantly falls in love with her, but his feelings soon land him in unexpected trouble. Meanwhile, Sandy’s character Nachiyappa, a determined cop, is on a mission to stop Chandra from achieving her goal.
