On September 7, Sunday, the sutak of lunar eclipse will start at 12.57 pm, which will end with the eclipse. That is, after 12:57 in the afternoon, all the rules related to sutak will be valid. All deeds related to Shraddha should be done before the eclipse starts, these are classical rules. Shraddha Pitra does not accept Shraddha performed during Sutak.
According to the Antyakarma Shraddha Prakash Granth, Kutap Kaal is the best time for Shraddha. The time of Kutap period is usually from 11.36 am to 12 noon in the afternoon. This time is considered special auspicious and virtuous for Shraddha and Tarpan, because the ancestors are satisfied with the Shraddha performed at this time and we get their blessings. At the same time, it would be appropriate to perform Shraddha of ancestors at the same time on 7 September.
The family members who have died on the full moon date of any month, should be done on the first day of Pitra Paksha i.e. on the full moon of Bhadrapada month. This date is also considered good for the shraddha of Nana-Nani. According to scholars, if there is no shraddh in the Nana side, then Shraddha should be performed for the peace of their soul on the very first day of Pitru Paksha. It is also called Matamah Shraddha due to the shraddha of Nana Paksha.
