Gurugram metro: The problem of traffic jam in Millennium City Gurugram is going to decrease soon. 27 new metro stations are going to be built here. The foundation stone of this project was laid by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini. A population of about 25 lakhs will get superfast connectivity from this new metro line. Also, it will be easy to reach Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.
Gurugram Metro Corridor will start from Millennium City Center and go to Dwarka Expressway via Cyber City. Its length will be 28.5 km and it will cost around Rs 5,500 crore. A target has been set to complete the project in four years. During this time metro stations will be built in major areas like Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar and Palam Vihar. According to Gurugram Metro Rail Limited, this project will reduce traffic pressure, reduce pollution and also create new employment opportunities.
Apart from the main corridor, a 1.85 km long new line will also be built from Basai village to Dwarka Expressway. It is estimated that every year about 7.5 lakh passengers will travel by metro within the city of Gurugram.
Gurugram is a big hub in IT and BPO sector. There are offices of more than 250 multinational companies and more than 19 unicorn startups. In such a situation, both employees and common citizens of companies will get better traffic facilities in metro details.
As of 2014, there was a 248 km metro network in only 5 cities in the country, which has now increased to 1,066 km in 24 cities. Currently, work is going on on new 970 km projects. Cities like Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna, Mumbai and Gorakhpur are also connecting in this detail.
Apart from Gurugram Metro expansion, many more corridors plan is also ready. This includes ‘Namo Metro Corridor’ from Rejangla Chowk to Dwarka Sector-21, Sector-56 to Pachgaon, Delhi to Karnal.
