Yejin , one of the members from the original lineup of Brave Girls (BB Girls), is finally opening up about her struggles as an idol in the Korean entertainment industry. She shared a video online, delving into how her company mistreated her and her fellow members and all they were put through in their rookie days.
Former Brave Girls member Yejin opens up about her struggles as an idolYejin was once a part of a popular girl group, Brave Girls. The group initially made its debut in 2011, however, changed their band name and label along the way. Yejin was a part of the group till 204, when she announced her exit. In a video shared on an online channel ‘Open Mic’, the former idol is seen getting candid about her life as an artist in the industry, sharing how strict her company was, and how restricted she felt, which she says, was one of the reasons why she chose to walk away from the glamorous life.
She shared during the interview, “It was really a mix of reasons. Things are probably much better now, but at the time, our company was managing its first girl group, so they were very strict. At music shows, we weren’t allowed to get close to other singers. They even followed us to the bathroom."
She also revealed that the company would put restrictions on them about meeting family members as well as friends, which took a lot of toll on the group member’s health as it went on for more than 2 years. She also added that since no money was being earned, she “had no sense of achievement”.
Yejin reveals that she suffered from depressionThe former idol even shared how hard things were for her at the time, to the point where she was suffering from depression. She revealed it took a lot of courage for her to walk away from something that she used to dream about having, and the incident made it hard for her to watch any music-related programs, either.
After leaving the industry, she turned her life around and now works as a successful show host.
