Kohli fitness: Indian cricket veteran Virat Kohli may have retired from Test and T20 international cricket, but his passion for fitness and sports is still intact. The 36 -year -old former captain is full of focus on ODI cricket and he wants to win his career to a new height by winning the 2027 World Cup. The tournament will be played in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Recently, Kohli came into the limelight when a report claimed that he gave his fitness test in London, while the rest of the centrally contracted players were sent to the Center of Excellence in Bangalore. The matter raised questions on the BCCI as to why Kohli was given a separate facility. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Jaspreet Bumrah, Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj all joined the Yo-Yo test in Bengaluru.
Amid this controversy, former captain of the Indian football team Sunil Chhetri also confirmed that Kohli was sending score to him during his fitness test in London. Chhetri said that Kohli’s dedication is very inspiring and he compared him to Portugal’s star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. He said that just as Ronaldo, so Kohli is not a player who stays on his achievements, but is thinking of moving forward continuously.
Kohli said goodbye to Test cricket earlier this year and also retired from T20 international cricket after winning the T20 World Cup last year. However, his fire in ODIs is still intact. His brilliant batting was seen in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, in which the Indian team captained by Rohit Sharma defeated New Zealand in the final. Kohli has not played any competitive match since the end of the IPL, but he is continuously practicing in London.
According to reports, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma can play their last ODI series against Australia in October. It is also discussed that if both want to be a part of the upcoming World Cup, then they may have to enter the domestic victory Hazare Trophy.
Kohli’s next international match will be a three -ODI series against Australia. Earlier there is a possibility that he should also be seen in the series between India A and Australia A.
