A district and sessions court has extended the physical remand of Hasan Zahid for three more days. The case is to the alleged abduction attempt and threats against social media personality Samiya Hijab.

The suspect was produced before Duty Magistrate Azhar Nadeem. His initial five-day remand had ended.

In court, the defence argued that police should explain what progress was made during the earlier remand. They also presented photographs of Zahid and Samiya, claiming the two were engaged.

The prosecution presented transaction records between Zahid and Samiya. They also showed a video statement from Samiya’s parents. The prosecutor said that Rs45,000 had already been recovered from Zahid. He added that the suspect’s vehicle, weapons, and accomplices were still missing. For this reason, he requested an eight-day extension in remand.

The defence opposed the request. They said Zahid had already been granted bail in one case but was deliberately arrested in another.

After hearing both sides, the court extended Zahid’s remand by three days instead of the eight requested by police.

The case has drawn wide public attention. Samiya Hijab, who has nearly 850,000 followers on Instagram and is also active on TikTok, posted a video earlier this week. She said Zahid had been harassing her for months. She accused him of threatening her and forcing her to marry him.

She further alleged that Zahid came outside her house recently. According to her, he grabbed her phone and tried to push her into his car. She said her mother was unwell and her brother was not at home at that time.
