Punjab News: Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh and Punjab Panchayat Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund today visited the flood affected border villages of Fazilka district. The two leaders distributed relief material to themselves in Gulaba Bhaini village.

Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh said that Punjab has been struggling with floods for almost a month, but the central government is still waiting for the reports. He hoped that on September 9, the Prime Minister would declare a big relief package for the flood affected areas during the visit of Punjab. He also said that 60 thousand crore rupees of RDF, GST etc. of Punjab should also be released soon. In this regard, the Chief Minister of the state Bhagwant Singh Mann has already made this demand from the central government. He said that earlier the Union Agriculture Minister has also visited, but so far no relief has been sent by the central government.
Punjab Panchayat Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund said that relief work in the district is going on fast. On Sunday, he celebrated his birthday by serving flood affected people. He himself picked up the people of Gulaba Bhaini village on the shoulders and reached the bag of ration. For the last three days, they have been engaged in serving people in flood affected areas of Fazilka district.
He told that now that the water has started decreasing, we have started preparations for the next challenge. Saund said that after the water decreased, the survey of waterborne diseases and damage caused will be the major challenges. Saund said that medical teams, teams of Veterinary Department and District Administration teams are constantly active in affected villages and relief material is being ensured to every affected person.
