Salman Khan Hits Back Amid Career Sabotage Allegations

Responding to Shehnaaz’s high praise who was cast by Salman Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, the superstar said, “Maine kahan banaye hain kisi ki career. Career banane waala toh upar waala hai (When have I ever made someone’s career? The one who makes careers is God).”

He then added that he has also been accused of destroying people’s careers, “Laanchhan bhi daala hai ki kitno ke dubaaye hai. Specially dubaane waale toh mere haath mein hai hi nahi. Lekin aaj kal sab chalta hai na ki career khaa jaayega. Kaunsa career khaaya maine? Par agar khaoon na toh main apna khud ka career khaa jaunga (An allegation has been levelled against me that I’ve sabotaged so many careers. But that especially is not in my hands. But that’s what works these days that he’s sabotaged careers. Which career have I sabotaged? If I could do that at all, I’d first sabotage my own career).”

He continued, “Kabhi kabhi main complacent hojaata hoon aur phir chodh deta hoon aur phir waapas usko aapne grip mein laane ki koshish karta hoon (Sometimes, I get complacent, but then I leave that alone, and then I try to hold grip of them again).”

He told Indian Express, “He is the father of the star system in Bollywood. He is from a film family which has been in the industry since 50 years. He continues the process. They are vindictive people. They control the whole process. If you don’t agree with them, they come after you. He is not even interested in acting, and he hasn’t been since the last 25 years. He does a favour by turning up to work. He is more into the power of being a celebrity, but he is not interested in acting. He is a gunda (goon). I was not aware of this before Dabangg. Salman badtameez hai, ganda insaan hai (Salman is ill-mannered, he is a bad person).”

Abhinav further opened up about how his brother Anurag Kashyap was removed from Tere Naam because of Salman Khan, “The same happened with him (Anurag Kashyap) in Tere Naam. How would he guide or advice me? He told me before Dabangg that you won’t be able to make a film with Salman. He just didn’t tell in great detail that why I won’t be able to make a movie with him. He just thought I’ll get easily bullied, he knows these vultures.”

He added, “Anurag left the film eventually. He wrote the script of Tere Naam. Boney Kapoor misbehaved with him, then he left it. They didn’t give him credit also. The exact same thing that happened with me. The basis of any good film is a good script.”

Abhinav Kashyap made his directorial debut with Dabangg which became a big box office blockbuster earning over Rs 150 crore at the box office back in 2010.

He then directed the Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor starrer Besharam in 2013 which was a critical and commercial failure.
