Pitru paksha 2025: Pitrupaksha has started from 7 September. This period holds special significance in Hinduism. Pitru Paksha is considered to be a sacred time for the peace of the soul of the ancestors and their blessings. This time is dedicated to rituals such as Shraddha, Tarpan and Dan-Virtya. During this time many people are often dilemma as to whether to wear or buy new clothes. In such a situation, let us know about this-

Auspicious or inauspicious to buy new clothes during Pitrupaksha

It is clearly stated in Hindu scriptures that wearing or buying new clothes in Pitrupaksha is not considered auspicious. This is the time to respect spiritual purity and ancestors instead of focusing on material pleasures.

The main objective of this period is to remember your ancestors and perform Shraddha Karma for the peace of their soul. Therefore, it is considered appropriate to stay away from appearances in these 16 days.

According to astrologers, wearing plain and sattvic clothes is the most auspicious in Pitrupaksha. White, light yellow or other light colored clothes help maintain mental peace and purity.

This is because wearing new and bright clothes can bring a sense of pride or materialism in the mind, which hinders the simplicity of this holy time. Only by following simplicity and restraint, a person can serve his ancestors with a sincere heart.

It is said that if there is such a special tradition in your family or region that new clothes are worn in the ancestral side, then you can play it. Religious beliefs have flexibility and personal traditions are also respected.

But, it is important to remember that the main focus should be on Shraddha Karma, Puja-recitation and charity.

Experts say that it is not necessary to wear or buy new clothes in Pitrupaksha. This is the time of reverence and devotion, where simplicity and sattvikta are given the most importance.

By wearing plain and light colored clothes, you can express your devotion and respect in the service of ancestors. The real purpose of Pitrupaksha is to get peace and blessings of the soul of your ancestors beyond material objects.
