A court has rejected the bail plea of Hassan Zahid, who is accused of attempting to abduct social media influencer Samiya Hijab.

After the bail rejection, police arrested Hassan Zahid in another case. They secured a two-day physical remand to threats and cash snatching. Authorities said Hassan  Zahid’s identification could help in arresting other suspects connected to the case.

The defence lawyer told the court that Hassan Zahid and Samiya Hijab had been engaged. Zahid currently faces two separate cases.

Samiya Hijab, a popular social media personality with a large following on Instagram and TikTok, claimed that Hassan  Zahid had been harassing her for months. She alleged he appeared outside her home, grabbed her phone, and tried to force her into his car.

“My mother was unwell, and my brother wasn’t home. When I stepped outside, he took my phone, sat in his car, and tried to force me in,” she said in a video posted online.

Earlier, the court had extended Zahid’s physical remand for three more days in the abduction and threats case. During proceedings, the court reviewed transaction records between Zahid and Samiya, a video statement from her parents, and photos showing the couple’s engagement.

The prosecution said Rs45,000 had been recovered from Hassan Zahid. They added that his vehicle, weapons, and alleged accomplices have not yet been found. Authorities requested an eight-day extension in his remand to continue the investigation.
