Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma preferred to lead a calmer life in London, removed from the constant limelight that they are subjected to back home in India. The couple only provides very occasional peeks into their lives on social media and returns to India mostly for work commitments.

In a recent interview, cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues shared her unforgettable encounter with Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma in New Zealand. In an interview with Mashable India, Jemimah expressed that she and Smriti Mandhana first thought of meeting Kohli to gain some tips on batting. They then met him at a café in the team hotel, where Anushka joined them as well.

She remembered:

"He actually told Smriti and me that you both have the power to change women’s cricket, and I can see that happening."

The informal encounter became a lengthy chat that lasted close to four hours.

Jemimah added:

"It felt like a few long-lost friends who met and spoke. The only reason we stopped was because the café staff kicked us out."

Why Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma Shifted to London

The shift of the couple to London has also been spoken about by Madhuri Dixit's husband, Dr. Sriram Nene, on his health and wellness YouTube channel. According to him, Virat and Anushka wanted to provide their children with a normal upbringing, free from the media glare in India.

Dr. Nene explained:

"We had a conversation with Anushka one day, and it was very interesting. They were thinking about moving to London because they can’t enjoy their success (here). And we appreciate what they go through, because anything they do attracts attention. We almost become isolated."

He went on to clarify:

"Not in a bad way, but there comes a time when it becomes intrusive, when you’re at dinner or lunch, and you have to be polite about it. For my wife, it becomes an issue. But (Anushka and Virat) are lovely people, and they just want to raise their kids normally"

Emotional Moment in IPL 2025

Even while based in London, Virat Kohli continues to shine on the cricket field. In IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore finally lifted the IPL trophy after 18 years. Kohli, emotional after the win, rushed to Anushka Sharma and broke down in her arms.

He later expressed:

“This team made the dream possible, a season I’ll never ever forget. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the ride over the last 2.5 months.”

Kohli dedicated the win to the RCB fans, saying:

"This one is for the fans of RCB who never ever left our side in the worst of times… you’ve made me wait 18 years to be able to lift you and celebrate my friend, but it’s been absolutely worth the wait."

The maestro of Indian cricket is currently out of action since the completion of IPL 2025. He, along with the India's ODI skipper Rohit Sharma will next feature in the one-day international series against Australia.
