Despite being a daughter of a nawab, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi ( Tiger Pataudi ) who was also a well-known cricketer and actress Sharmila Tagore , Soha Ali Khan has continued to remain grounded and humble. She came from a privilege and so did her father but the actress admits that her father has seen a lot of loss in life and that's what has also taught her a lot. Tiger Patuadi and Sharmila Tagore tied the knot in 1968 and had three children - Saif Ali Khan, Soha and Saba Ali Pataudi.
In a recent interview with The Quint, Soha said, "Things like fame and fortune come and go. They shouldn’t define you. It’s very easy to attach yourself to them. Competition, ambition, the rat race, followers, and getting popular are all part and parcel of the same thing. It’s important to have a stronger sense of self."
Talking about her father's journey, the actress said, "Of course, he came from huge privilege and an aristocratic background, but he did see a lot of loss in his life. He lost his father at the age of 11, he lost his eye, he lost his homes and lands, lots of things happened. Perhaps he was affected by it in his own private time, but as far as I could tell, it didn’t really shake his sense of self too much."
Tiger Pataudi was the ninth Nawab of Pataudi , a town in Haryana after his father passed away playing polo. Meanwhile, he lost his right eye in a car accident in London in 1961 after pieces of the windscreen penetrated into his eye and damaged it. Despite that, he played cricket and became the youngest captain of the Indian team in test cricket at the age of 21.
Soha also further spoke about how her mother remained an inspiration to her. She admitted that she happened to watch her mom Sharmila Tagore's films only after she began acting. Soha said, "And that’s when I understood not only her achievements as an actor, but also her versatility, her ability to work in English, Hindi, and Bengali. And I was hugely impressed by her work ethic."
Tagore broke several stereotypes and continued to work after getting married when it wasn't a norm. She worked even after having children.
