New GST Rates: The central government has given a big gift to the general public before Diwali. New GST rates will come into effect from September 22. Under the new GST rate, all the things used in everyday life will now become cheaper. Everything from food to shampoo and household appliances is getting cheaper. Items like packaged namkeen, bhujia, sauces, pasta, instant noodles, chocolates, coffee, preserved meat, cornflakes, and ready-to-eat snacks will now attract only 5% tax. Tax on almonds, cashews, pistachios, and similar dry fruits has been reduced from 12% to 5%.
