New GST Rates: The central government has given a big gift to the general public before Diwali. New GST rates will come into effect from September 22. Under the new GST rate, all the things used in everyday life will now become cheaper. Everything from food to shampoo and household appliances is getting cheaper. Many things, from milk, curd, cheese, and ghee, are getting cheaper. But a question in the minds of many people is whether cashews, almonds, and pistachios are getting expensive or cheaper? Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a big cut in GST rates and changes in slabs on 3 September 2025. Under the New GST Reforms, most of the things have come in the slab of 5% and 18%. Many types of food items will now attract 0% or zero GST, and even life and health insurance will not be taxed. The government has cut GST rates on about 400 items.

Will cashews, almonds, and pistachios become expensive from September 22?

Ultra-high temperature (UHT) milk is now GST-free, while butter, cheese, and condensed milk will attract 5% GST. Items like packaged namkeen, bhujia, sauces, pasta, instant noodles, chocolates, coffee, preserved meat, cornflakes, and ready-to-eat snacks will now attract only 5% tax. Tax on almonds, cashews, pistachios, and similar dry fruits has been reduced from 12% to 5%.

We all know that Navratri starts from September 22. Like milk, curd, cheese, and ghee, GST has also been reduced on cashews, almonds, and pistachios. They will be available cheaper from September 22. Cashews, almonds, and pistachios are also used to eat during fasting during Navratri. Will they become cheaper? So the answer is yes. Cashews, almonds, and pistachios are getting cheaper from September 22. The price of cashews, almonds and pistachios is not getting expensive from 22 September 2025. Rather, their price is also decreasing.
