New Delhi. The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has given great relief to the drivers whose vehicles have been challaned for some reason. The Yogi government has decided to cancel traffic e -invoices issued between 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2021. Whatever challan, which took place in this five years, whatever is pending in court or whose time limit had crossed and they were not sent to court, all will now be canceled. The UP Transport Department has started the process of canceling these invoices and it will take a total of 30 days.

This decision of the Yogi government will benefit about 13 lakh drivers of the state. When applying for vehicles permits, transfer or HSRP, old e-operations will no longer be interrupted and will work easily. These forgiven challans will be shown in the category of “Disposed-Abated” (if the matter was pending in court) and “Closed-Time-Bar” (if the office was pending in the office and the time-limit is out) on the portal of the Transport Department. However, cases like serious accidents, cases to IPC or driving driving and invoices to tax recovery will not be waived.

UP Transport Commissioner BN Singh has issued instructions to all divisional transport officials of the state to get a list of pending challans from the concerned courts and complete the process of removing them from the portal of the department as soon as possible. According to the transport department data, there were a total of 30.52 lakh e-challan between 2017 and 2021. Of these, 17.59 lakh invoices have been disposed of. At the same time, 12.93 lakh challans were remaining, out of which 10.84 lakh challans are pending in court and 1.29 lakh are pending at office level.
