The journey of Mata Vaishno Devi temple was postponed after the landslide. Many people lost their lives in this incident. The infrastructure was damaged. In a post on X, Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board said, "Vaishno Devi Yatra will resume from 17 September 2025. If the weather is fine then the devotees are requested to be updated through official communication mediums."
Actually, this journey was to begin on Sunday. It was postponed until further orders due to continuous rains on the Vaishno Devi temple and track. The board said, "Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra starting from 14 September has been postponed till further orders," the board said.
The Shrine Board thanked the devotees for patience and understanding during the temporary suspension of the yatra. Officials have expressed security concerns. Because there has been a landslide due to continuous rains. The routes leading to the temple are closed. This has made traffic for pilgrims unsafe.
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was also disrupted at many places due to landslides and breaking roads, causing connectivity to become even more complicated. There is disappointment among devotees due to long -term traffic disrupted. Local businesses dependent on travel are also facing difficulties.
Vaishno Devi Yatra was postponed after the landslide on 26 August, killing 34 people and injured several. The disaster came around 3 pm later, when heavy rains caused heavy landslides near the Indraprastha restaurant in Ardhkunwari, between Katra to the temple.
