Rocket League fans are counting down to the release of Season 20 on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.

According to Epic Games, the new Rocket League season has a September 17 release date, where it will launch alongside a big new update and selection of Rocket Pass rewards.

Indeed, the Season 20 Premium Rocket Pass features rewards such as the Sonic Sidescroller Player Banner and Sonic Looper Wheels. According to Epic Games, more Sonic the Hedgehog content will join the game later this season.

Other Season 20 rewards include the Pontiac Firebird, which is unlocked automatically when purchasing the Premium Pass. The Chevrolet Astro is also in Rocket Pass Premium.

Other rewards include the Pinball Wheels, Mall Cop Decals, the Snake Score Goal Explosion and the Corn Dog Antenna. You can check out the entire selection of Premium Rocket Pass rewards below.

Speaking of the Rocket Pass, the Season 20 update will change the progression system for unlocking rewards.

Epic explains more: "No matter what Rocket Pass Tier you're on, the amount of XP required to get to the next Tier will be the same. This will allow for faster Rocket Pass progression!"

Elsewhere, drops from Challenges will be replaced by XP, while Premium challenges will be removed altogether.

Players will also earn twice the amount of XP per second from Online Matches, and will not earn XP in Private Matches.

Elsewhere, Season 20 will introduce the new Boostfield Mall Arena, which is essentially a playing field surrounded by shops.

The Rocket League developer will also upgrade 4x4, describing the new direction as "dialling down the disarray" and "turning up the strategy".

The mode will now contain two larger arenas to better accommodate eight players, while the number of boost pads will also be increased.

Finally, 4x4 will have a Competitive version for the duration of Season 20, which serves as Rocket League's first new Competitive Playlist in almost seven years. The upgraded 4v4 will also be available as a Casual Playlist.
