The Rekha Gupta government of Delhi will soon launch a new and innovative facility for women and transgender passengers. It's called the 'Saheli Smart Card'. This pink digital card will enable free travel on Delhi's DTC and cluster buses. Let's find out when the registration process for this card will begin. And what benefits will women receive after obtaining this card?

What is the Saheli Smart Card?

The Saheli Smart Card is a special digital card that the Delhi government is introducing to make free bus travel easier. Until now, women used to purchase pink tickets for free bus travel, but with the introduction of this card, the entire process will be digital. This card will be valid for a lifetime. This means that once a Saheli Smart Card is issued, it will not need to be renewed repeatedly. However, before using it, the card will need to be activated through DTC's automatic fare collection system.

These details will be on the card.

The Smart Saheli Card will have the name and photo of the woman concerned, making it more secure to use. This card will operate under the National Common Mobility Card system. This means that it can also be used for other modes of transport, such as the Metro, in the future, provided you recharge or top-up it.

Who can avail this card?

This card can be availed by women and transgender people in Delhi who are 12 years of age or older. However, you must be a permanent resident of Delhi. You will need to provide valid proof of your address, such as an Aadhaar card or other government document, at the time of registration.

How and when will registration take place?

The registration process for the Saheli Smart Card will be completely online. You will need to visit the DTC's official website and fill out the registration form. It is very important to provide correct information on the form. After registration, you will need to go to the selected bank and complete the KYC (Know Your Customer) process. The bank will then prepare your card and send it to your registered address. It is expected that the Saheli Smart Card process will begin in October.
