Proximity chat is officially making its way to Fortnite in a dedicated mode that encourages you to form alliances, betray players, and fight for survival.

Fortnite is preparing for a significant update. The upcoming downtime for update 37.30 promises a wealth of new content, including the arrival of the Dino Megazord on the island as both the secret skin for Chapter 6 Season 4 Battle Pass and a pilotable mech that you can use to obliterate your enemies. It's all very Mighty Morphin'.

But that's not all, the introduction of Lord Zedd has altered the storm's behaviour, and we can anticipate even more changes with the official introduction of the exact V-Bucks feature, designed to give users the best opportunity to snag their favourite bundles before they disappear from the Item Shop.

Moreover, rumours are becoming reality – the leaked battle royale proximity chat feature has stirred up excitement among players, offering the chance to become the most notorious troll in any given lobby to Zero Build players everywhere. And now, it's coming to life in its own unique way.

Here's what you need to know about the forthcoming Delulu LTM (and no, we're not thrilled about the name either).

Fortnite Delulu LTM

Fortnite Proximity Chat is finally making its debut, albeit in a more limited fashion than some had anticipated. According to Fortnite leaker

, it will first appear in the Delulu LTM, which will only be available in-game on weekends.

This mode allows 80 players to access the island in Zero Build mode, either solo or with a pre-arranged squad, and encourages them to team up with other players using the built-in proximity chat. However, it seems that forming your team along the way could enhance the experience.

The mode is scheduled to launch on Friday, September 19, but there's an opportunity to get a sneak peek through the game's numerous influencers. Early access for the Fortnite Delulu LTM will be granted on Thursday, September 18, to those with an active Creator Code, so expect to see your favourite streamers diving into the mode before you can.

At present, this is all we know about the mode – it's an intriguing concept, and frankly, one that could dominate the entire game. If you've ever seen games go viral on TikTok, it's likely due to the in-game interactions they offer with both strangers and friends, providing ample opportunities for some truly troll-heavy moments.

This could either revolutionise or ruin the positive aspects of games that children adore – so perhaps it's best that it's only available on weekends.
