Good news for households across the country – Amul has announced a significant price cut on over 700 of its products. This welcome move means that everyday favorites like ghee, butter, paneer, and ice cream will soon be easier on the pocket.

The decision comes as Amul passes on the benefits of recent GST reforms to its customers, with the new, lower prices taking effect from September 22nd. The price reductions are widespread, covering a huge range of items from dairy essentials to bakery products and frozen snacks.

So, what does this mean for your grocery bill? Here’s a look at some of the key changes:

  • Ghee will see a substantial drop of ₹40, bringing the price down to ₹610 per litre from ₹650
  • A 100g pack of butter will now cost ₹58, down from ₹62.
  • The price of a 200g block of paneer is being reduced from ₹99 to ₹95
  • Even ice cream prices are being lowered, with the range now starting from ₹9 instead of ₹10.

It’s important to note that the price of fresh pouch milk will remain unchanged as it has always been exempt from GST.

Amul, a cooperative owned by 36 lakh farmers, believes that these price cuts will not only provide relief to consumers but also encourage more people to enjoy a wider range of dairy products The company is hopeful that lower prices will lead to higher consumption, especially for products like cheese and butter, which still have a lot of room for growth in the Indian market. This move is a classic example of how changes in tax policy can directly benefit the end consumer.
