
Union Cabinet Decision: Before Durga Puja and Diwali, the central government has given a big gift to those working in the railway. The bonus of railwaymen was approved in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. The government will give a bonus of 78 days to the railway employees as PLB (Productivity Linked Bonus). On this, the government will have to spend Rs 1865.68 crore.
PLB to the railway employee is paid every year before the Durga Puja/Dussehra holidays. This year, about 10.91 lakh railway employees will be given a bonus equal to 78 days' salary. PLB is paid to employees due to working to improve the performance of railway.
For each eligible railway employee, the maximum payable PLB amount is Rs 17,951 equal to the salary of 78 days. This amount will be given to railway employees of various categories like track maintainer, loco pilot, train manager (guard), station master, supervisor, technician, technician helper, pointsman, ministerial staff and other Group 'C' employees. Railways performed very well in the year 2024-25. Railways have carried a record 1614.90 million tonnes of goods and about 7.3 billion passengers.
Bonus for railway employees has been announced before Durga Puja and Diwali. People of India shop fiercely in both these festivals. Now it has been announced to give bonus to railway employees. It is expected that railway employees will use additional income in purchases. People will spend on buying things of their need and hobby. This will promote the economy.
